I wondered the same when I realized it was time for me to step back from drinking for a period last year. But I also knew it was time to take responsibility for my own health (mental, physical, emotional and spiritual) and step into unknown territory, scary as it was.

Being a “grown up” as I lovingly refer to it, is rarely about taking the easy way out, especially if you want to keep growing and evolving. When we’re ready to make the changes that we know will benefit us in the long run, sometimes we just have to make the decision, take a deep breath and dive in head first. Yes, you can.

Why Accountability Groups?

Accountability groups are powerful.

I’ve witnessed massive growth and momentum in my years facilitating, and participating in, accountability groups. It’s one thing to tell yourself you’re going to do something, it’s another to put it out there in a group! Not to mention the community and new friendships that tend to form as well.

We are all in this thing together, so it helps when we know that others have similar struggles. It’s especially comforting when our situation or circumstances feel isolating. It also feels damn good to lift up others when they’re having a rough day. #WeRisebyLiftingOthers

What’s the deal with Self-Care?

The term “self-care” is thrown around a lot these days. But as cliche as it may sound, we are the only ones who can truly take care of ourselves. We are the only ones who know what we need.

Acknowledging that something might not be serving us and making the choice to simply step away from it for a month is a huge form of self-care! And one most people aren’t willing to do. So go you!
